Paul Connor

I’ve had many different jobs and I have recently taken early retirement. Born in Wednesbury in the Black Country I spent sixteen years at the heavy end in a Foundry. After I was made redundant, I took an Open University course as a mature student; this enabled me to get the job I have recently left at a Housing Association, working in their Legal Services department.

I was a member of West Bromwich West’s Labour Party and have also been a Union Rep for Unison. I worked for a while as a volunteer with the Citizens Advice Bureau (in Tipton).

I believe that we should all have the same chances in life and also believe that most of us don’t. I don’t believe in privilege in any form; I would include the Monarchy in this and the whole system that makes it impossible for most of those at the bottom to rise to the top.

My politics are based on that of Social Justice and that those with the ability to help others should. This could also include a higher tax burden on those who can best afford it, not more taxation for the poorest and those on benefits. The bedroom tax is an abomination and restricting tenancies in the Housing sector has the ability to destroy the security of families and the communities that they rely on.  I could go on but, I think you may have got an impression of me by now. Thank you for reading this.
