The GP Community Unit at Kidderminster Hospital is a vital part of the NHS in Wyre Forest.

The decision to close it is being taken by the Wyre Forest Clinical Commissioning Group and Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Trust . This is a disgrace and must be reversed.

I am collecting signatures and have around 600 with an on-line petition at 38 degrees -; Save the GP Community Unit from Closure.

I have been a volunteer on the ward for nine years. For some patients the ward provides their final period in hospital and is in effect, a hospice.

Others have suffered, for instance, serious falls or illness from which they can recover, but not at home without comprehensive round the clock care and treatment which will not be provided in patient’s homes because of shortages in the service.

The local population is very adamant the ward should stay open. The Doctors and Acute Hospitals Trust must decide to keep it open. If they don’t, I shall reluctantly move votes of no confidence and call for their resignation.
