Barbara Keeley MP, Labour’s Shadow Mental Health and Social Care Minister, commenting on the Education Policy Institute’s research on access to Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, said:

“It’s shocking that so many children and young people who approach the NHS for help with their mental health aren’t getting it.

“The Conservatives have a shameful record on mental health. They have failed to protect mental health budgets, left too many children and young people without vital support and failed to put forward any plans to improve services.

“Children should not be waiting months for vital mental health treatment. It’s clear that to have any hope of meeting the proposed waiting times targets children’s mental health services need a drastic increase in funding and in staff.”
