On Saturday 18th January 2014 Wyre Forest Labour activists, lead by Labour Prospective Parliamentary Candidate Dr Matt Lamb, will be taking to the streets of Kidderminster to protest against the austerity measures taken by the Conservative-led Coalition government.

Between 10am and 12noon on Saturday Labour members will be meeting members of the public outside Kidderminster Town Hall to discuss with them how the policies of the Conservative government have impacted on hard working families.

Labour candidate for Wyre Forest, Dr Matt Lamb said:

“We are constantly being told by David Cameron and local Tory MP, Mark Garnier, that we are all in it together and that we are all sharing the pain. Local people in Wyre Forest know the truth.

Since 2010 the average family is £1,600 worse off. Wages are stagnating and prices are going up.

Whilst members of a millionaire Cabinet ignore the growing use of food banks and the impact of the Bedroom Tax, hard working families in Wyre Forest are struggling to make ends meet. Almost one and a half million people are working part-time in the UK because they cannot find a full-time job.

Gas, electricity, train fairs, rents, tuition fees, home care charges for the elderly and the disabled, childcare- the cost of all of these have gone up since 2010. At the same time the Conservative lead coalition has given a tax cut to those earning over £150,000. That is the cost of Cameron.

At the next General Election the people of Wyre Forest will be asked a straight forward question: are you better off than you were in 2010? Most people know that they are worse off.

They will then have a simple choice between a Conservative government which will continue the cuts and a Labour government which will build thousands more affordable houses, abolish the Bedroom Tax and provide high quality childcare. It is a simple choice.
