Labour Party members in Wyre Forest have selected Dr Matt Lamb as their Parliamentary candidate at the next General Election.

Dr Matt Lamb was selected by members on Saturday 9th November, which also was his 43rd birthday.

Labour’s new parliamentary candidate for Wyre Forest, Dr Matt Lamb said: “I am honoured to have been selected by members as Labour’s candidate to be the next MP for Wyre Forest.

“I was educated locally at Comberton Middle School, King Charles 1st High School and Kidderminster College. I was raised in Wyre Forest, that’s why what happens here is important to me.

“Local people who I speak to tell me time and time again that prices are rising, but their wages aren’t. People are being hit by a cost of living crisis, but our Tory MP and this country’s Tory-led Government are doing nothing to help.

“If elected in 2015 Labour would freeze energy bills for 20 months and create a tough new watchdog with the power to force energy companies to cut their prices when the cost of energy falls.

“Wyre Forest is where I am from and that is why I care about what happens here. That’s why I’ll be fighting hard for local people and local priorities. I will always do what is best for Wyre Forest, not Westminster.”

A West Midlands Labour Party spokesperson said:

“Wyre Forest needs a change of direction. Dr Matt Lamb is just the person to bring it.

“Matt is a fantastic campaigner. He has got everything needed to take on the Tories and win the seat back for Labour. He is a formidable opponent.

“Matt Lamb is a local guy, who knows Wyre Forest like the back of his hand. He has the local knowledge and know how needed to win the seat back for Labour.

“Matt will be going door to door to speak to local people about their concerns and why we need a One Nation Labour Government to turn this country around.”
