Ed Miliband has set out how Labour has a real plan backed by real money to improve cancer care in the NHS.
We will guarantee a maximum one-week wait for cancer tests with results, made possibly by £150m of new investment every year in diagnostic technology, paid for from a levy on the tobacco companies.

This funding will help make more testing directly available in GP surgeries -; including by installing many more machines like ultrasound or x-ray machines.
And our new Cancer Treatments Fund will kick start the replacement of outdated radiotherapy machines – one in five of which is older than the recommended 10 year maximum.
This is part of Labour’s fully-funded plan to raise £2.5bn -; over and above Tory plans -; to invest in the NHS and recruit 20,000 more nurses and 8,000 more GPs.

David Cameron has broken his promises on cancer: an official document has revealed the NHS doesn’t expect to meet the cancer treatment target for another year -; meaning 23,000 patients could be waiting longer than two months to start treatment over the coming year.
