We are all familiar with our green wheelie bin, into which we “do our bit for the environment” by filling it with recyclable materials.  Unfortunately, despite our effort, Wyre Forest District Council’s record in recycling household waste is poor. 

Nationally, there are 352 councils responsible for this task.  In the “recycling league table” Wyre Forest languishes in 309th place, with a recycling rate of just 32%.  Compare this figure with the best in Worcestershire, 42%, by Bromsgrove, or the best in the country, 67%.

To try to boost the percentage significantly, Labour district councillors are proposing an amendment to the Administration’s budget proposals, to provide money to research ways to improve performance, with a planned implementation date in 2017.  And, incidentally, Labour has found the resources for this research without costing the Council Taxpayer a penny!
