Daily Mirror - Tories so cruel headline

Last night in Parliament, the Tories, including Wyre Forest MP Mark Garnier, voted to take the food out of the mouths of kids by rejecting a Labour motion in support of Marcus Rashford’s free school meals campaign.

In the middle of a pandemic, where hundreds of thousands are losing their jobs, and millions of workers are having to survive on 66% of their normal pay, the Tory priority was denying a million of the poorest kids a free school meal in the school holidays.

Those same MPs enjoy subsidised meals in Parliament, an £82,000 salary, lavish expenses, and will see a £3,300 pay rise next year.

Meanwhile, during the pandemic, they’ve thrown £12billion of taxpayers money at a failed privatised test and trace system continually calling it NHS test and trace. It isn’t. Without an effective test and trace it will merely perpetuate coronavirus and keep millions in poverty and wreck the economy.

One thing the Tories are ‘world beating’ at is failure and protecting their donors. In that sense, a viral tweet summed up the priorities of the Tories last night:

“WHAT THERE IS MONEY FOR:
Operation Moonshot (£100bn)
Brexit (£200bn)
Failed Test & Trace (£12bn)
Government cronies making dodgy PPE (£billions)
Consultants on Test & Trace (£7k a day)

WHAT THERE ISN’T MONEY FOR
Feeding hungry kids”

This is a dark day for Britain and it shames our country and holds a revealing light up to the attitudes of those in the the Tory Party, including our MP Mark Garnier, who remember also employs his wife and once said he had to take a pay cut to become an MP.

Out of touch and so cruel. Wyre Forest deserves better.

I urge you to write to Mark Garnier and tell him what you think about throwing Wyre Forest’s hungriest kids under the bus – all whilst he laps it up in luxury with his MP salary, junior Minister trade role, his second job, and fancy suits as he claims he’s “Working for ALL Wyre Forest on EVERY Issue.” Last night that lie was well and truly busted.

The Daily Mirror said it as it is with today’s headline.
