We asked Charlotte Ransley a few questions (via Zoom) about why she wants to join Kidderminster Town Council. Charlotte is the Wyre Forest Labour Candidate for Foley Park & Hoobrook for Kidderminster Town Council.
Can you tell us a little about yourself, and why you want to join Kidderminster Town Council?
My name is Charlotte Ransley, and I want to join Kidderminster Town Council in order to represent constituents in the ward of Foley Park and Hoobrook.
Why should I vote for you and the Labour Party?
I would like to think that people would vote for me because I am local, I have lived in the ward of Foley Park & Hoobrook for over two years I loved it! I met some wonderful people. If I was successful in becoming a member of Kidderminister Town Council, I would be totally passionately supportive of my constituents. I would make sure that I listened to them; I would make sure that I make a difference to their lives.
What can you tell us about Foley Park & Hoobrook?
Last year was the 75th anniversary of the end of the Second World War but my wonderful neighbors put some awnings up and we socially distanced as appropriate, and we had a wonderful celebration to basically commemorate the end of the Second World War, and it just sums up how people are in that area, they are warm, they are friendly. I just felt embraced by the community, and I would like to be able to make a difference to their lives.
What issue is close to your heart?
I think one of the main issues for me is the green spaces and parks for families. I have a family – I’ve got two very energetic young boys and I know that these are so important for people during the lockdown period that we’ve had, but every year there are threats to close some of these, because of lack of funding. Rifle Range Nature Reserve was a godsend for myself and my family, and I want to be in a position which I can try and protect these vital places, and also perhaps enhance them with ideas from the local community. I can only do this really if I’m elected to Kidderminster Town Council and this is just one of the reasons why I’m standing as a candidate for Foley Park & Hoobrook.
